Retrofit Find the Wiring Subscription

Compare real BMW wiring between your current car and a retrofit target. See the exact pins to add, change or remove at the connector with destinations, wire colours and disconnection safety. Works by SA option code (e.g. 688 Harman Kardon, 3AG rear camera) or by direct document comparison across same-generation chassis (F?F, G?G, E?E).

Two Ways to Use

  • By SALAPA / SA code select your chassis (e.g. F30), pick an SA option (688, 3AG, 552 LED). The tool computes the module delta, bus topology changes, and shows wiring for each added component.
  • By direct comparison pick a connector (e.g. E5*1B headlight) and select a FROM document (halogen) and a TO document (LED). Get the pin-by-pin diff: what stays, what changes, what to add/remove, with wire colours and live-feed safety warnings.
Retrofit SA selection and impact analysis
SA option selection see module delta, bus changes, confidence scores
Retrofit impact report with added/removed modules
Impact report added ECUs, bus topology, pin delta, view wiring per module

Direct Wiring Comparison

Compare two wiring documents side by side for the same connector. Example: retrofit LED headlights on an F30 compare the halogen SSP document against the LED SSP document for connector E5*1B to get the exact pin-level diff.

LED headlight retrofit connector selection
Pick connector + FROM/TO documents
LED headlight retrofit pin diff table
Pin-by-pin diff SAME / CHANGE / ADD / REMOVE
LED headlight retrofit wire detail with colours
Wire detail destinations, colours, polarity, safety

  • All ECUs & control units every module involved (amplifiers, ASD, gateway, body controller)
  • All components speakers, sensors, actuators, antennas with connector codes
  • Bus connections which buses link the components (K-CAN2, MOST, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Wiring documents the real BMW SSP/PIB source documents with links to ISTA Docs
  • Per-connector pinout every pin, signal name, wire colour, direction (IN/OUT/GROUND), and destination

Troubleshoot woofer and power
Woofer + power supply chain

Use Cases for Troubleshooting

  • Trace a fault to its source a speaker isn't working? See which ECU drives it, which bus signal it uses, what wire colour to probe, and where the ground goes
  • Understand a system before working on it before disconnecting anything, see the full topology: what connects to what, through which buses, with which fuses
  • Identify all affected connectors for any function, know every connector and pin that participates, so you check the right ones during diagnosis
  • Cross-reference with ISTA Docs click any wiring document link to open the full SSP/PIB diagram in the ISTA Documentation viewer

How to Use

  1. Navigate to bimmer.studio/troubleshoot and sign in
  2. Select your chassis from the dropdown (F30, G20, E90)
  3. Filter and pick an SA option code (e.g. 688 Harman Kardon, 6NR HiFi, 3AG camera)
  4. See the complete function map all ECUs, components, connectors with full pinout detail
  5. Click any connector to see its cross-reference images (installation location + connector view)
Data comes from real BMW wiring documents (SSP/PIB) for each series. The function graph is rebuilt live from the extracted wire facts not a static diagram. No VIN required, works by chassis + SA code.
