The ECU Explorer gives BMW technicians and enthusiasts direct access to the ISTA diagnostic database. Search 42,000+ diagnostic jobs, 34,000+ fixed functions, and 5,000+ symptoms — the same data BMW's official ISTA/D tool uses for guided diagnostics.
Diagnostic Functions
Search for any diagnostic function (e.g. "oil temperature", "brake test") and get the exact ISTA job commands with their full parameter and result definitions:

Browse all BMW ECU groups with their UDS diagnostic addresses (e.g. DME = 0x12, DSC = 0x60). Each group shows all hardware variants ever produced and their known fault code count. Essential for anyone doing UDS communication or building diagnostic tools.
ECU Jobs
Raw access to all 42,000+ ISTA diagnostic jobs. Each job shows its input parameters (what values to send) and output results (what the ECU returns, with units and scaling factors). Jobs starting with STATUS_ are read operations, STEUERN_ are actuator commands.
Symptom Finder
Navigate BMW's official symptom tree — the same one ISTA uses for guided troubleshooting. Each symptom has a VFC code (Vehicle Fault Code) that maps to BMW's internal part catalog. When a customer says "steering wheel vibrates", find VFC 04126 to start the diagnosis.
